Mr Monk and the Vampire:Chapter 2

Chapter 2

“C’mon Mr. Monk, stop acting like a child.” Natalie said in annoyance to her Obsessive Compulsive boss. He was keeping touching the antenna.
“I’m not acting like a child, Natalie. I’m acting like my normal self.” Monk said, touched the antenna again before Natalie pushed him into her Ford Escape.
“Where is Josh? “ Monk looked around, “Hi, Julie” he noticed Natalie’s dear baby was seating behind, beamed with smile.
“Hi, Mr Monk,” answered Julie, smiled wicked, “You sure you are going to the ruin?”
“I .......”he looked utterly pale, “well...... Julie, ruins include at least five of my phobias! Snakes, dirt, spiders, flies, and smells!” Monk said, naming the phobias off on his fingers. It seemed that he may fall in a faint at any moment.
“Well, you can stay here, Mr. Monk. “ Natalie said, frowning at the bung-full trunk。 It’s all his: wipes, drinking water, boxful underwear, another boxful insecticide! “Then I can throw all these away.” She shut the door heavily.
“Where’s Josh? He’s coming or not?” Monk asked again, considering whether he should take this risk or not if Josh won’t come.
“We’ll meet him there.” Natalie answered shortly and grouchily. “He called me last night and said our Ford may be too crowd for four people and tons of baggages!” She twisted her mouth into a wry smile.
“I don’t like him.” Julie chopped in suddenly. “I just don’t any doctors! He looks dour, prissy and ...”
“And germ-infested,” grumbled Monk. Julie burst into laugh.
“Don’t be silly. He is a good guy.”Natalie retorted discontentedly, "Adrian, germs aren't visible, how could you possibly see them?"
“How could you not?!” Monk insisted,” Just crawling around waiting to give you disease, so they can laugh when you die!”
“Adrian! Germs never laugh!” yelled Natalie, beyond endurance.
"Adrian, germs don't laugh."
"That's not the point!" Julie said, refraining from laughing. “Mum, talk something about the ruin! You know the place, don’t you?”
“Well, Josh has been there for a few of times I think. He said there was a saga in that small village… a saga about vampire.”
“Tell me about the saga!” Julie said feverishly and approached to her mother.
(to be continued. I m going to tell the saga next time )

Shortland Street Fan Fiction

I thought way to much about this assignment! I tried to re-write Cat in the Hat by Dr Seuss but i ruined it and was to embarassed. I have gone alone the same kind of lines as Sal did by putting myself into the story.

We all know what Shortland Street is, this is a couple of months back when Kip was single and Joey was still around.. ooooh the suspense!

As I stumbled out of my cab with my cell phone in hand trying to make out the name of the bar I was heading too, The I.V. This wasn’t my usual scene, but I was excited to meet this guy who was a friend of a girl I had been chatting to at uni. She had over heard me explaining to another girl how I wanted to marry a Doctor so I could live a lush lifestyle! – partially joking ofcourse! Somehow she knew this young fun Doctor so she set me up.

Pulling down my dress and making sure my heels were on correctly, while trying to have a cigarette (and look not as drunk as I was) I began to wonder up the path pausing out side the door to finish my smoke. My cell phone went off in my hand “Hey are you far away?” - it was from him. I sucked my stomach in and walked into the room. “Shit this place is a little different to 420.” I mistakenly blurted out as I walked through the doors. It was full of older professional guys and women, obviously not a 21 year old ravers kind of scene. I had herd this guy was meant to be loads of fun and always down to get boozy so I let the stiffish appearance go and headed for he toilets for a quick touch up. While trying to find my cherry lip gloss my phone went off again, oh I hadn’t replied to the last text! This time he was asking if I was still coming, I replied saying I was here and wondering where he was.

Another girl was in the bathroom, she started chatting to me it sounded like everyone knew each other here. I started to assume she was trying to suss me out, but I made a good impression the 4 red bull on vodka’s has prior were helping. She introduced herself as Alice and said she knew just the man I was looking for!

Dragging me by the arm not giving me a chance to apply my lip gloss she marched me up to the bar. She started to make a bit of a scene saying she caught me trying to bail out the bathroom window. My face turned red and Kip just put out his hand and said “Hi I’m Kip, mind Alice she is just jealous I’m not about to but her a drink, what would you like?” Beginning to relax again, and feeling a tad overwhelmed I said a Sav would go down a treat!

While Kip headed to the bar Alice started to fill me in on the goss, everyone in this bar was connected to the hospital across the road and Alice knew all the dirty secretes. I was glad Alice seemed to be really lovely, I was so stoked I wasn’t feeling so awkward now.

Kip returned with a couple more people, I assumed they were Doctors as well. They introduced hemselves as Joey and Craig. Craig looked old enough to be my Dad! I drank my Sav and began to talk to Kip a little more one on one, turns out he went to my high school - although a few years ahead!

Being on my way to being a little to far gone i was chatting away about stories from my young under the influenced time, I don't know what i was thinking and this Joey character was looking at me a little weird!

As the drinks flowed and time past I tried convinced these characters to come into town and see one of my favourite bands. I was pretty gutted when Kip said he had to work relatively early in the morning so he would have to decline. Alice said she was keen but then Craig whispered something - I imagine saucy – in her ear and she changed her mind. This left me with Joey, he said he was down to come into the city and that it would not be safe for me to be alone around here as there had been some kind of trouble? I did not take to much notice, he had stopped looking at me oddly and I was not ready to go home so I said by farewells to Kip and exchanged numbers with Alice while Joey called a cab off we went. . . .

My first “Monk” fanfic Draft

Brief Introduction (For those who has never watched Monk)

Monk is a US television show about the private detective Adrian Monk. Monk is afflicted by obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and multiple phobias. He is a gifted detective who worked for the San Francisco Police Department until his wife, Trudy died in a car bomb attack. Monk believed that accident was intended for him and he was breakdown after that. He was fired by the police office and he became a shut-in. With the help of his nurse Sharona and later his personal assistant Natalie, he was able to go out of his house and worked as a police consultant. The OCD and plethora of phobias lead to very embarrassed situations and cause problems for Monk and anyone around him when he investigates the cases. However, these same personal struggles, particularly the OCD, also made him to be able to solve cases. Just as his catchphrase says, “It’s a gift, and a curse.”

Mr Monk and the Vampire

Plot: Natalie was dating a new guy, Josh. He is tall, good looking but dejected. They planned to travel to the Ruins Hotel, in a small town near San Francisco. Mr Monk was a little bit jealous of that guy and he tried to hold her back. Certainly, he failed since Natalie was so fascinated with Josh. So Mr. Monk decided to go with them, also he took Julie, Natalie’s 12 years old daughter. No doubt Mr Monk suffered a lot in a ruin. Everything there seems horrible for Mr Monk! Dusty, dilapidated, spider web everywhere and ruined. In the first night they arrived, the landlord told a saga of Vampire in this hotel. Unexpectedly, the “Vampire” came out that night, kidnapped Julie and killed two people! Is it a real vampire? Is the saga true? And why did Julie become the suspect? Who is the “Vampire”? Here we go...

Chapter One

Natalie Teeger stared at Mr. Adrian Monk opposite the table. He was focusing on his three pieces of bacon that she had ordered for him.
“What ----is ----- wrong, Mr. Monk?” asked Natalie and sighed
“There is three--- three pieces of bacon. Th…that’s un-even.” Monk twiddled his thumbs and murmuring nervously.
Natalie stood up suddenly, and reached over across the table and snatched the third piece, and chewed it emphatically.
“Ok, problem solved,” she said, after engulfing “the third” bacon. Monk nodded and began to carefully cut a perfectly square of the bread. Natalie showed the whites of eyes. “Okokok, I will cut it next time! And no—third---bacon!” She said.
“It should be even…..”, said Monk, “just even…..you know…” he insisted.
Monk stared down at a water spotted fork. He and Natalie were dining in a restaurant near his apartment. But Mr Monk looked as if he were ill. The fork had water spots! It was wrong, it was horrible…It drove Monk absolutely mad.
“Do you want me to ask for another fork, Mr. Monk?” Natalie asked quickly, a fake smile frozen on her lips.
“Please, Natalie,” Monk said weakly, holding the fork and still staring at it.
Natalie raped the fork and went up to the front counter, explaining about Monk’s phobias and about how he wanted a fork without water spots. The girl at the counter looked confused, and finally she got it and went into the back to find a cleaner-looking fork.
Natalie thanked her, took the fork, examined it, and took it back to the table, handed it to Monk.
“Here you are, Mr. Monk,” Natalie said as if she relieved of a heavy load.
“Thank you, Natalie, thank you” Monk answered, once again checked it again and started to cut a perfectly square piece of food.
Natalie ignored the urge to laugh at loud and looked for her cell phone in her purse and texted Josh, her new boyfriend. “Oh, he is so cute…” she looked at the picture on her cell phone screen and smiled.
It might be a little bit before I get to your place…Mr. Monk is cutting his food into perfectly square bites. Kiss with love.
Natalie pressed “send” and then started to watch Mr. Monk cut up his food.
Suddenly, the cell phone began to vibrate in Natalie’s hand, and she flipped it open and began to read Josh’s text.
Natalie smiled at how Josh was trying to be cool and use chatspeak. She closed her phone, not replying to the message, and turned her head upwards towards Monk. Monk was looking at her with question mark in his brown eyes.
“Josh says ‘hi’.” Natalie said this quickly; as if she was afraid something else might come out of her mouth. She was hesitate.
“How did he say that? He’s not here,” Monk pointed out, finishing his last, perfect bite.
“He texted me,” Natalie explained. “Haven’t you ever texted before?” Her eyes wide opened.
“I don’t think so,” Monk said replied nervously.
“Anyhow, here’s the thing…” Natalie sighed, and decided to tell Monk finally,” I need one day off, Mr Monk….”
“For what?” asked Monk, all of a sweat.
“Well, Josh and I planned to travel to the Ruins Hotel…….” Natalie murmured vacillatingly and anxiously.
“What? The Ruins? What are you going to do at ruins?” Monk burst out.
“It’s not a ruin, it’s just a hotel! Anyway, I need to have one day off…Josh invited me to…”
“One day? You mean you are going to leave me alone for the whole day? “Monk shouted, “Oh, Natalie, ohnonono, you won’t do that to me.”
“You can stay at home, reading books, watching Trudy’s diary, whatever…..and Julie will be with you….”
“Wwwait,” Monk interrupted her alarmedly.” Julie is not going with you?”
“Yep,” smiled Natalie, “Only Josh and I, we’d like to spend some time without others.”
Monk glared at her, his brow furrowed, as if he never knew her. That guy, that tall, cold blood, depressing guy will spend a whole day with his dear personal assistant, Natalie together? He cannot help envying him!
“You can not leave me alone…..” Monk murmured against this bad news.
“Well…you can come with us if you want,” Natalie said, leaning against the chair and smiling malevolently. She bet Monk won’t come because of his ODC and phobias. He cannot even stand for a fork with water spots, how can he go to a ruin?
Monk was shocked, looked as if he was killed by this suggestion. He scowled at Natalie, gray-faced and struggled. After 10 minutes deathly stillness, he said, slowly and torpidly, “When?”
A cry sprang from Natalie’s lips: “What? What did you say?” She cannot believe what she heard.
“I said”, Monk breathed deeply,” I will go with you.” He stood up, made the chair parallel the side of the table, and then left the restaurant.
“Are you mad? It’s the Ruins Hotel…..” She was startled and her mouth wide opened.

My OC fanfic DRAFT!

My first draft. I am happy with this. Your thoughts and such??

Backstory for people who don't (regularly) watch The O.C.:

The OC: Otherwise known as Orange County, it is the wealthiest town on the East Coast. The town is inhabitated by some of East Coast's richest and most beautiful. In this same town, lives Marissa Cooper and Summer Roberts who have been best friends since birth. For that same period of time, Seth Cohen has always lived next door to Marissa and harboured a secret crush on her best friend, Summer.

Everything in Newport, O.C. is picture perfect until the day that Ryan Atwood moved in with the Cohens, everything changes. Relationships are tested, new ones form and old ones end.

One thing that is definitely on the cards is that nothing will ever be the same again.

Welcome to The O.C. where everything is not what they seem on the exterior . . . .

Marissa Cooper and Summer Roberts arrive at the Fashion Show after party held at their friend, Holly's parent's beach house both dressed in casual yet formal dresses in which they wore to the charity fashion show prior to this. Marissa is dressed in a short pink cocktail-style dress while Summer is all decked out in a revealing black fitted dress that gripped her body like a second skin.

As soon as they arrived, Summer spots the hot guy she had invited to the after party and a smug look on her face revealed itself. Ryan is dressed in the clothes that he was wearing at the fashion show minus the coat, which he gave to Seth before he left.

He was standing by the drinks table and scanning the room, checking out all of the rich and stuck up teens at the party and wondering where he fit into all of this.
“He will not know what hit him” she said, mostly to herself and letting out a smile, before leaving Marissa’s side.

Summer weaved through the crowd of Harbour High students till she was near Ryan. She took a deep breath then took a step in front of him.
“Hey. I’m Summer” Summer shouted over the crowd to be heard whilst also looking over the crowd of drunken students, “What’s your name?” She ventured curiously.
“Ryan.” He replied, not looking at her. Summer was not impressed by the lack of attention she was receiving from him. She was hot and she knew it. So hot that all the guys at school wanted her. So why wasn’t he looking at her? She wondered and decided to up her game.
“So,” she began and then kissed him right then and then. He was bewildered by the gesture but went with it.

While Summer was busy seducing Ryan, Marissa found her boyfriend, Luke Ward. They exchanged a quick kiss before Marissa was offered a drink by a passer-by. She took a sip and looked around the house, in search of Summer.
“Hey baby who are you looking for?” Luke noticed.
“Summer” Marissa replied matter-of-factly.
“Baby, I’m sure she’s alright, she’s a big girl. She can take care of herself,” he said, taking her hand before continuing, “Come on. Let’s go outside, get some fresh air?” He finished, touching her chin with his other free hand and giving her a kiss on the check.
“Okay.” She agreed, smiled and followed his lead.

*******

Ryan slipped into the Cohen house quietly and headed to the pool house, where he was staying. He threw his tie on his bed and proceeded to untie his shoes and get ready for bed when suddenly the door opened and in came Summer. How in the world did she find out where I lived? He thought quizzically.
“Heyy.” She said quietly, dragging it out the greeting.
“What are you doing here?” He asked, trying to keep it down and before Summer could reply, the door burst open again.

“Ry-“ Seth begun smiling but that smile quickly fade, “… Summer” he said, clearly surprised at Summer’s presence in his very own home, “er… what are you doing here?” he asked confused.
She turned around, “uh, just leaving” she replied and proceeded towards the door but was stopped by Ryan’s grab of her slender and soft arm.
“Don’t leave” He said, not sure why he did or said that.
Seth was breaking down inside and thinking a million and one thoughts at once. What was happening??? Why is Ryan with the girl that I love? Why is he touching her???? The thoughts continued and everything was at a standstill with everyone not sure what to do next.
“I think I’d better go,” Summer piped up, “I’ll see you around… Ryan” she concluded, secretly smiled at him and made her way to the door without looking back.

After Summer’s departure. Ryan and Seth just stood there in silence and looked at each then looked away, not sure what to say to the other. Awkwardness was felt by both guys as they both shifted uncomfortably with Seth dressed in a matching Superman t-shirt and boxers.
Ryan looked over at Seth, just at the same time Seth was looking over at him. Ryan opened his mouth to speak but then was interrupted by Seth.
“You hooked up with her, didn’t you?” He shouted, wide-eyed and shocked that his newfound friend who he had spent his day with had hooked up with the love of his life. He was also not aware that he could have woken up his parents, Kirsten and Sandy Cohen with his outburst.
Ryan was taken aback and did not know what to say.
“I-I-I…” he stuttered, his mind was blank as to what to say to this guy who was standing just a few metres away from and had known only twenty-four hours. He scratched his head and was about to say something but was cut short again by Seth.
“I can’t believe you!” He started, still with that tinge in his voice then paused before he continued. “I thought you were my friend!” Seth said with definitiveness in his voice and with that he walked out of the pool house back to the house.

Ryan was left standing in the middle of the pool house, stunned with what happened right before him. He did not know what to think or even say.

Too Many Reds in The Rovers

Yesterdays lecture afforded me a little more understanding of what we're doing here .I can see that my idea doesn't only come from watching Coronation St but also from a brit series called 'Life on Mars' ,perhaps even the Truman Show-which I've never seen but realise what the plots about.Because I now understand more of the roots of this inter-textual exercise I felt I should do an introductory episode where myself and my children are placed smack bang in the middle of Coronation St. Firstly I use the vehicle of being an extra to get there then , upon waking in the Rovers after too many red wines, it dawns on me that I'm stuck in an alter world. The series is actually real! And I'm in it! As this realisation solidify's I need to work out how I'm going to use my knowledge of characters and the script to navigate my way through interactions and relationships in the hope of appearing 'normal'. These first few scenes introduce us to what it might be like to spend an hour or so in the 'reality' of the Coronation St series.

' Too many Reds in The Rovers.'

I couldn't believe it! Here I was leaning on the bar of The Rovers Return sipping a cheap red out of a cheap glass.I'd watched this series for years and felt tickled pink to be appearing as an extra.
Make up had done an amazing job with the dark shadows under my eyes, with a good kilo of foundation mind you. When the director had seen my kids he'd decided to write them in for a scene later in the week.Hence my role was a sewing machininst trying out for the day at UnderWorld and invited on to the Xmas bash across the road at the Rovers.I was a 'single mum newly moved to the area, two kids , starting a new life.' Ironic!
After the scene it didn't take long for me to feel the effects of the alcohol, after all we'd done four takes . I began to slump despite all the gregarity, wondering how my kids were getting on at my grandmothers .I'd actually soent a lot of my childhood living not 20 miles from the studios in Manchester and my extended family still lived here. We were staying with them.

My musings were interupted by Ken Barlow -Bill- leaning over me to offer another red wine .
" It's a fabulous vintage" he enthused "You have to try some , see how it compares to NZ Wine."
It was good. Exceptionally in fact. But it wasn't until later that I'd realise what a terrible mistake this was. For now though the ample pile of coats in the corner of the booth beckoned warmly so I lay my head down...just for a minute.

A noise not dissimilar to a freight train passing within a metre of my head woke me with a start. It was Liz McDonald vaccuming.
" You'll fit right in over the road if you can drink like that love" she shouted over the droning motor. After she switched it off she came closer as I clumsily rubbed the sleep out of my eye's and the dribble off my chin. I looked down to where I'd been lying and was disgusted to think of the multitude of backsides that had sat right where my face was lastnight.
I tried to smile as Liz studied me , shaking her head.
" We thought we'd leave you where you were love. No one could wake you."
Then it occured to me...the children!
"What time is it Liz, I mean , erm, what's your name again, sorry." She looked blank so I pressed on at the same time as shuffling my bum along the seat so she'd move and let me out.
"It's my kids, I hope they're ok, my gran's in her seventies ...I'd better call"
" Oh come on" she replied "your little cherubs are fine. Rita called earlier to say they're alright. That's why I woke you up. I told her to make the tea good and strong!"
"Rita...my children...where are they?"I began to raise my voice as panic set in.
Whats-her-name steadied me as I tried to jump up from the seat-they're much lower than they look on T.V- and helped me to the door.
I pulled my phone out of my ultra-tight cast jeans pocket to call my grandmother only to find it wasn't my phone. The Pink Motorola in my pocket must surely have been part of my costume though I can't say I remembered that.At that moment though it rung. I answered ,trying to control the pitch of my waivering voice.
"Hello...Hi , Sally here"
"Who?"the womans voice sounded familiar
"Sally, who are you?" I suddenly had no time for manners.
"Hayley.UnderWorld. I thought that was Susan's phone. Never mind love. If you see her can you tell her she's got the job. Hope she feels better after lastnight. We've never had anyone dancing on the bar before!"
I hung up. I turned round to Liz as she struggled reaching up to unbolt the door.
"What's going on ?" I asked her , holding back my tears."Where are the cameras?"
"Oh Dear. Sounds like you've been drinking more than wine. Calm down petal."
I was in two minds by now ,if indeed the ball of wool in my head could pass for a mind. Should I stop and burst out laughing or play along? Liz ushered me out onto the pavement as Dev pulled up in
his Audi TT. He gave me an especially creamy smile before he dissapeared inside and I caught myself whispering under my breath what a slimey git he really was...Really was? What was I thinking?I was on the studio of Coronation Street for Christ's Sake!
"Look , this is all really very funny I'm sure" I began then trailed off as Tracey Barlow shimmied passed pushing Amy's buggy.I could swear she gave me a conspiritorial glance as she asked Liz to pick Amy up after dinner.Did I talk to her lastnight ?I couldn't remember.Feeling a little sick now I let Liz steer me over the road to The Cabin. I said nothing more. I just wanted to see my children! As we approached I half expected Norris to come mincing out when suddenly the door to the upstairs flat flew open.
"Mummy , Mummy" enthused my 7 yr old boy,Alfie."Mummy we've had loads of fun.Why haven't we ever met your Grandma Rita before?" With that ,Rita descended the stairs slowly aided by my 8 yr old daughter in full cabaret dress -up.
"Mum , look at me! Granny Rita gave me these to play in.There's some for you if you want..."shouted Rosa excitedly. I pushed Liz away and grabbed my son , gesticulating wildly for my daughter to come down to me. But she looked unsure , scared even.
"Mummy what's wrong?" she ventured slowly.
I was interupted by the agitated tones of Norris hectoring Rita about a lost newspaper at 21 Rosamund St.
"Oh for God's sake use yer marbles Norris" she replied "I'm busy!" Then she turned her attention to me. Me,standing stock still almost ready to burst into tears.
"Eeh by 'eck you do look a state.Let's get you up the stairs. Rosa , up the stairs quick sharp lovey , your mum doesn't look too clever. Watch that feather Boa , if you trip on that it'll be the death of us all" Rita chuckled.
I sat down gingerly on the sofa holding my children to me in a state of shock which almost gave way to hysterical laughter. But I didn't dare. Something wasn't right.

My phone rung again. This time I answered. The name of the girl I was cast as was Susan ,so I tried it.
" Susan here" I mumbled. It was Hayley Cropper again.

'Oh so it is you...I spoke to a girl earlier , she didn't know me,or you for that matter."True to screen character she guffawed down the phone. She said she wanted me to start Monday.I said yes.I didn't know what else to do. I think I'd decided to play along until I felt better . At least the children were happy.
Rita put the tea down on the coffee table and looked at me with just the right amount of concern for this scene, if indeed it was a scene and not some bloody awful dream I was suffering.
"Eeh , I don't know what you were drinking lastnight my dear but best you don't meddle with whatever it was again eh?" And off she went to do a jigsaw with the children .

I just sat there, dumbfounded ,sipping a welcome cup of tea hoping to God this most unwelcome episode of Coronation St would end . But suppose it didn't?
I went into survival mode ; I was warm. I wasn't hurt. The kids were OK, happy even ( which bothered me under the circumstances but I had no option but to let them be.)
And I was so tired again. I sat back into the dark brown dralon of Rita's sofa and finished my tea. Them closed my eyes again, just for a minute.

What I'm doing! ^_^

Sooo I have been reading the comments in the invitation post and I have honestly not started or even thought about what I am doing until now.... lol.

So, skipping my uncertainity and random thoughts, I have decided to do an OC fanfic of what if Ryan and Summer got together.. because in the first episode or the pilot, I think, Summer ashamedly flirts with Ryan and it is obvious that, I think, she is the first to like Ryan and so yes... what if Ryan took Summer's advances?

What do you think? Think it's a good? :)
